Joining us today is Christine Clakely, Executive Director of The Children’s Skin Disease Foundation (CSDF). Cookie has attended Camp Wonder for the past 3 years, and Monkey went for the first time last year. They have had a wonderful time and look forward to going back this summer. I would be happy to answer any questions about our experiences with this organization.
The Children’s Skin Disease Foundation (CSDF) addresses the unique challenges of young people who suffer from skin diseases and the families who care for them.
CSDF established Camp Wonder, a medically-staffed summer camp to provide children, who would be unable to attend any other camp due to their often untreatable skin diseases, an opportunity to laugh, play and just be children. The camp is held at Camp Arroyo’s facilities in Livermore, CA. At camp, children participate in a wide variety of activities including swimming, boating, arts and crafts, games, fishing, horse-back riding, skit night and much more.
Camp Wonder serves children and the families of children with skin diseases ages 6-16. Teenagers interested in community service, and retired volunteers who reside in the area help make this camp a reality. The volunteer medical staff for CSDF camps is primarily comprised of doctors, residents and nurses from the major medical schools in California.
For more information about attending Camp Wonder, please visit our website at www.csdf.org or contact Christine Clakley at 925-947-3825. Camp Wonder 2013 dates are June 23rd through June 28th.
